So not too long ago, both of the computers in our house were hit by a virus. I ended up completely reinstalling Win XP on the laptop because on that one, all I saw was a blue screen when I logged on.

The desktop would not go to any websites, it would just continually run a hourglass and then time out.

We called in the geek squad and two weeks and $600 bucks later, they were fixed.

Now the laptop in the house is 'mine'. Scott uses it occasionally, but once I'm home he'll log off and use the desktop in the den for his computer needs.

Yesterday, somehow, (and it was completely my fault) the laptop fell off the couch and landed with ac adapter down on the floor. Something broke, I can hear it rattling around in there. The computer still works fine, but it is no longer registering the ac power. My battery sucks, and if I can't get it to register the ac power, I can't recharge the battery.

So basically what I'm asking here is, am I screwed? Can I have this fixed or am I going to have to purchase a new laptop?

Help?
